Preface: As with many posts, the claims made in this post are far from being definitive to the whole apostolic movement. In fact I has been very surprised and pleased with the openness of many apostolic officials and higher ups to denounce the doctrine of "magic hair" as a heresy in recent months. It must also be noted that whatever controversy may be derived from this post, the thoughts are not really my own. Many men more articulate and intelligent than I have already tried to openly combat this theory and have done so in a far more effective fashion than I could. For the most comprehensive understanding of Holy magic hair, please visit http://holymagichair.com/wordpress/ . Also note that this is not a criticism anyway in uncut hair, nor is it advocating hair cutting. I'm critiquing a doctrine that has developed around long hair. Okay, when I originally started SAL, I had a post about HMH (holy magic hair) in mind. However, after a beloved teacher of mine spoke o...
"All jesting is in its nature profane, in the sense that it must be the sudden realization that something which thinks itself solemn is not so very solemn after all." -G.K. Chesterton.
Sounds like truth to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing John! You've given me new ideas to 'chew' on this weekend...much appreciated!
ReplyDeletetaught so clearly... love this.
ReplyDeleteShe's wearing pants and her hair is cut! There is no way that I'm going to listen to a word that she says.
ReplyDeleteJust because you don't care for the messenger doesn't mean the message isn't good. As my pastor says, "Chew the meat and spit out the bones."
ReplyDeleteAnonymous I really hope you were being sarcastic.
ReplyDeletei really gotta feeling they were joking guys.
ReplyDeleteIt is just sad because I have heard that same statement when I wanted to share this video.
ReplyDelete@john wallace: I bet you could share it with the audio only and just cut the video feed. lol after all, you better not be showing movies in church let alone movies with a charasmatic/evangelical WOMAN in PANTS and SHORN hair preaching.
ReplyDeleteshe's just pretending to be anointed anyway. she's not going to heaven cuz she's wearing pants and probably believes that tongues are not necessary to the plan of salvation.
(just to clarify, I am being sarcastic. I love the ministry of Kim walker)
@rachel that was the suggestion I was given. :( It is sad God can only use people who meet your expectations of holiness.
ReplyDeletewow. that's wrong on so many levels that it's not even worth mentioning...since the people who say things like that are too blind to even recognize its wrongness.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing clip and put me to thinking about why my worship is in the place of holding back. She got me right in the heart when she said the reason some hold back is because they have hurts and questions. I, however, think she makes it seem far too simple a task to just put aside the questions. Some questions are of paramount, life changing significance and should deserve an answer. And intellectually I know that G-d does not owe us anything and that Calvary should be enough but I still want answers.
ReplyDeleteAs a side note, I have been reading this blog since the beginning and have thoroughly enjoyed reading every post. Thank you to all the writers who put so much time, effort, and thought into the postings.
